Marc M. Sarrado is a Barcelona-based cinematographer and director with nearly three decades of experience in international documentary filmmaking. His work has taken him to more than 69 countries across five continents, from the Amazon rainforest to Afghanistan, Iraq and Antarctica, and across some of the world's most remote deserts.

He began his career at TV3 in Barcelona in 1997 and became an independent cinematographer in 2006. Having spent several years based in Thailand and China, he has developed extensive experience working across cultures and in challenging filming environments.

His cinematography seeks the emotional intensity and visual ambition of fiction cinema within the unpredictability of real life. He pursues that vision whenever circumstances allow, without compromising the story.
 

As a cinematographer, his international credits include SAIL (2026), directed by Academy Award-winning producer Evan Hayes and Academy-honoured filmmaker Frank Marshall; Wings Over Antarctica (2007), The Light Bulb Conspiracy (2010), Sand Wars (2013). His collaborations span productions for broadcasters, studios and platforms including ARTE, PBS, Skydance Sports, Prime Video and Netflix.

As a director, his work includes documentary films and television series such as Wings Over Antarctica (2007), This Is Philosophy (2019) and La Fugida (2024), the latter nominated for Best Documentary at the Gaudí Awards. He also co-directed its follow-up series, La Fugida, veritats ocultes (2026). both of which he co-directed and photographed.
